Steady - state MRI : methods for neuroimaging REVIEW
نویسندگان
چکیده
MRI pulse sequences that use regularly spaced trains of rapidly applied excitation pulses (every few milliseconds) are known as ‘steady-state’ sequences. Under these conditions, the magnetization evolves into a steady state that depends on tissue parameters such as T1, T2 and diffusion, as well as sequence parameters such as repetition time and flip angle. These sequences have attractive properties including high efficiency (in terms of signal-to-noise ratio) and flexible image contrast; they also create unique challenges due to the need to maintain the magnetization in the steady state and their complicated signal dependence. This article describes the primary types of steady-state sequences and their application to brain imaging.

Neuroimaging in Iran: A Review
ABSTRACTNeuroimaging allows noninvasive evaluation of the anatomy, physiology, and function of the brain. It is widely used for diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment evaluation of neurological disorders as well as understanding functions of the brain in health and disease. Neuroimaging modalities include X-ray computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), single photon emis...
متن کاملNovel Methods for Steady-state Neuroimaging
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) has had a major impact on neuroscience due to the flexibility of MRI contrast. In particular, functional MRI (FMRI) and diffusionweighted imaging (DWI) have provided neuroscientists with unique and powerful methods for studying brain function and structure. However, neither of these methods has the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), spatial resolution or image quality...
متن کاملIdiopathic hypoglossal nerve laceration detected by high-resolution three-dimensional constructive interference in steady state magnetic resonance imaging.
A 55-year-old man presented with acute onset dysarthria caused by left hypoglossal palsy. He had neither surgery nor injury prior to the onset of his symptoms. We detected no abnormalities with conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) except for a slight gadolinium enhancement of the left hypoglossal nerve. Three-dimensional constructive interference in steady state MRI (CISS MRI) showed c...
متن کاملFunctional brain imaging using a blood oxygenation sensitive steady state.
Blood oxygenation level dependent (BOLD) functional MRI (fMRI) is an important method for functional neuroimaging that is sensitive to changes in blood oxygenation related to brain activation. While BOLD imaging has good spatial coverage and resolution relative to other neuroimaging methods (such as positron emission tomography (PET)), it has significant limitations relative to other MRI techni...
متن کاملExcessive testing in emergent evaluation of children with first unprovoked seizure
Abstract Backround: The first episode of an afebrile seizure is a common cause of admission of children to emergency departments. Alot of tests are routinely performed for these patients. The cost of such an evaluation is high and benefits are doubtful. We conducted this study in order to evaluate the results of the tests and find out what tests are necessary for children with first unp...
